Google - an excellent search engine - try lyrics here particularly..
Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com - excellent way of searching for songs once you know the artist and provides useful song clips.
Music Album Charts - check out what's hot and what's not in the Amazon.co.uk chart.
The Covers Project - great resource detailing who's covered what songs. Often useful if the advert in question appears to be a cover.
Media Guardian - Advertising - Reports, analysis and streaming video of adverts, home and abroad.
Adreview - analysis of US television commercials
Music from TV Commercials (U.S. Broadcasts)
Song of the Salesman - a guide to music in tv advertising.
Google Groups - the answer you need could be in the archive of newsgroup messages.
The Answerbank - music Q&A.
Advert music from the 80s - has links to music used in the 70's and 90's.
Shopsmart - Searching for bands often brings up song samples that may not be available on Amazon.

Bands

Alison Krauss - My favourite singer and a very talented musician to boot.
East River Pipe - Recommended, though this musician's laid-back, reflective style won't be found on any commercials.
Its Jo And Danny - A band whose CD I bought on the strength of it's cover. I was rewarded with some incredible and offbeat sounding guitar based pop/folk. And the trumpets are great!

Non-music

Lavasoft - Go here to download the essential Ad-aware. Get rid of nasty spyware that may be on your computer!
Purportal.com - Think again before you forward that e-mail! A useful site that allows you to check out the veracity of suspicious e-mails. Good headlines on the front page too.
The four word film review - that pretty much sums it up. It's fun!
Classic Cafes - an excellent site celebrating the virtues of London's classic cafes and lamenting their continuing demise.
Computer Stupidities - As an ex-technical support employee I have always appreciated this site.
The Brains Trust - "Topical humour, news parody, and political satire".
h2g2 - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - I love this site, clearly a labour of love for the contributors involved.
Shape of Your Mind - As well as being fun this might just amaze you.
Content Rating - This site has been labelled for content and registered with the Internet Content Rating Association.
Yahoo.co.uk - I recently submitted my site to Yahoo and was pleasantly surprised by some of the neat sites I found as I navigated the categories.
